Biography

Madeleine Seidel, O.D., FAAO, serves as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at University of Detroit Mercy School of Optometry, providing pediatric and adult optometric services, especially in the areas of pediatrics, binocular vision, vision therapy, neuro-optometry and vision rehabilitation.

She earned undergraduate degrees in Anthropology with Departmental and University Honors from Wayne State University in 2015 and Chemistry from Oakland University in 2019. In 2023, she graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from the Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. In 2024, she completed her residency in Pediatric Optometry at the Michigan College of Optometry with an emphasis on community health, vision therapy and vision rehabilitation and became a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Seidel joined the Detroit Mercy Eye Institute in 2024 to help develop its pediatric, binocular vision, vision therapy, neuro-optometry and vision rehabilitation services, while opening her own private practice. She is excited to teach optometry students at Detroit Mercy. Dr. Seidel is strongly motivated to expand access to vision rehabilitation services in the Detroit area to help children and adults with binocular vision dysfunction, developmental disorders, visual information processing disorders, brain injuries, low vision and other visual impairments to maximize their independence and quality of life.
