Biography
Dr. Maryke Neiberg serves University of Detroit Mercy as dean and chief executive officer of the School of Optometry. Dr. Neiberg brings academic leadership experience after previously serving as dean and associate professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) School of Optometry. Dr. Neiberg previously served as the inaugural associate dean of Academic Affairs at Midwestern University College of Optometry in Chicago.
Dr. Neiberg completed her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry and a residency in primary care at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Neiberg is a fellow of the Academy of Optometry (AAO) and board-certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry (ABCMO).
With interests including neuro-ophthalmologic disease and ocular complications resulting from systemic disease, Dr. Neiberg has authored several book chapters and published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and posters. She has presented invited lectures at national and international events. Dr. Neiberg is an award-winning educator, having received the California State Optometric Association Excellence in Optometric Education Award and several teaching awards. Dr. Neiberg has served on the Executive Board of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists (MSO) Board. In addition to her leadership role, Dr. Neiberg serves as an attending clinician and course director for several courses in the Doctor of Optometry curriculum.
