Reasons to Give
Supporting Detroit Mercy
Whether you donate money or time, giving back is beneficial—and not just for the recipients. Research has shown that the old adage “it’s better to give than to receive” is true after all.
Your monetary support provides personal satisfaction in addition to funding scholarships for students, rewarding our distinguished faculty, enriching many of our academic programs and enhancing the experience of all our students.
To us, the gift is about helping Detroit Mercy survive and prosper so it can contribute to the educational opportunities of Detroiters, a lot of whom are underserved or do not have the resources to receive an education like we received.

Further Catholic Education
Leadership support remains vital to our ability to provide our students with a quality, student-centered education in the 91°µÍøºÚÁÏ, thus helping shape future graduates who will go on to lead and serve in their professions and communities.
Honor Someone
You can support Detroit Mercy and celebrate a significant occasion, remember a loved one, or recognize someone special by designating your gift to a number of Detroit Mercy funds, programs or projects. Detroit Mercy's tribute giving program is a great opportunity to honor faculty members, classmates, parents or friends—anyone who has inspired, challenged, or touched your life.
I truly believe University of Detroit made of that talent, I believe we are all me who I am today.
— Sue Dion Wales ’72
You can double your gift without giving more!
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees.
Tax Benefits
A gift to Detroit Mercy may entitle you to a charitable contribution deduction against your income tax if you itemize deductions.
